What's New
The NDEP Recycling Ambassadors Program is a new endeavor that has been initiated in the Clark County School District this spring. Through this program, NDEP aims to continue to educate young students on the value of resource conservation. By training motivated high school students to teach lessons in elementary school classrooms, high schoolers have the opportunity to gain community service hours, develop leadership and communication skills, and share their enthusiasm about recycling, reusing, and reducing.
At this time the program is limited to a small group of select students from Western High School. Nearby elementary schools were invited to have their 5th grade classes participate in the program. NDEP intends to expand the program next school year (2012-2013) so stay tuned for more information in the fall or contact us with any questions.
The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has expanded its education and outreach program by creating a 12-week recycling curriculum for both
the elementary and high school grade levels.
This curriculum is intended to develop a sense of stewardship through a series of lessons aligned with the Nevada standard
course of study. The curriculum is an integrated approach that meets various science, math, language arts, and social studies objectives.
Our curriculum, which includes lesson plans, is free to download and use in your classroom.
